It was revealed that the clients had a deep passion for movies. With this knowledge in mind, a design was created that adhered to Vastu principles and catered to their preferences. The resulting plan included an abundance of sky-lights, secluded green areas, spacious balconies, and entertainment pockets.
A fortunate aspect was that the site was situated on a corner, facing the North and east directions. Taking advantage of this, the design strategically placed balconies and larger openings on the North elevation. This allowed ample north light to diffuse into the house, while limiting the size of fenestrations on the east elevation.
The site of this residence is a 2478 sqft North and east-facing corner site located in Vijayanagar, Mysore. The clients requested a design that would allow for a good balance of privacy and socializing, coming from a packed lifestyle. The brief also mentioned that they wished for ample natural lighting, ventilation, and hassle-free yet green pockets.
It also came to light that the clients were movie aficionados. Keeping all this in mind, the design produced was a Vastu-compliant plan which incorporated abundant sky-lights, small pockets of green tucked away, broad balconies and some pockets to entertain.
The advantage of the corner site was its orientation towards the North and east directions. Consequently, the design incorporated balconies and larger openings on the North elevation, enabling an abundance of diffused north light to enter the house. On the other hand, the east elevation restricted such large fenestrations.
Embarking on any project, whether it’s in architecture or life, requires a well-thought-out plan. However, it’s often ironic how seldom things go exactly as planned. Nevertheless, at Handbook, that’s precisely what happens. Interestingly enough, Ar. Sanjana Srihari initially had different intentions of moving abroad.
A significant turning point occurred when a cafe design project came her way. It was a defining moment for Ar. Sanjana Srihari, as she envisioned herself as an architect who could finally fulfill her passion for catering to a seemingly unattainable dream.
In her field, there is often a misconception that architects and their profession are elitist. This misconception arises due to the portrayal of architects and issues regarding approachability. These were the two key problems in the market that Ar. Sanjana aimed to address and eliminate.
Many professionals choose to work from their homes, but this can lead to the intrusion of privacy when clients visit a quiet residence. The establishment of Handbook as a firm aimed to offer affordable yet contemporary designs to all clients, free from any preconceived notions.
The core idea was to prioritize client-centric design and delivery, and it’s a proud statement to declare that Handbook has remained steadfast in its original concept and purpose since its establishment on December 4, 2019.
Handbook Architecture and Interior Designs have successfully completed over 50 projects and currently have 24 ongoing projects encompassing a diverse range of categories, including residential, commercial, hospitality and retreat, renovations, landscaping, interiors, and retail, among others.
The finesse that captivates people’s attention with Handbook lies in its creative residential designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also tailored to the clients’ needs and functional requirements. Sanjana’s journey as an entrepreneur is truly commendable, and we are confident that there are valuable lessons to be learned from it.
