Starting their journey in the vibrant neighborhood of Jogeshwari, this venture was not originally on the mind of Ridaa Shaikh. A secure job with a steady paycheck was her preference, but fate had other plans. Ridaa’s maternity break became the catalyst that led her to embark on her own path, delving into the world of interior design and space planning.
Creativity has been a part of Ridaa’s essence since childhood, a natural inclination towards designing that stirred her soul. Surrounded by a family of accomplished professionals—an esteemed cardiologist father, an IITian uncle, and a brother with a master’s degree in electronics engineering from the USA—she often felt like the odd one out. Nevertheless, her family stood by her side, supporting her through thick and thin, as she pursued her passion. In her line of work, which entails extensive travel, she finds solace in knowing that her family lovingly cares for her child in her absence.
Midas Touch caters to clients from all segments, diligently working within their constraints to deliver impeccable results. Whether it’s financial limitations, space restrictions, or the desire to retain existing furniture, the team at Midas Touch ensures that clients achieve their dream homes or offices without compromising on their vision. Ridaa Shaikh, the founder of Midas Touch, previously served as an associate at the esteemed Architecture Hafeez Contractor firm. She was deeply passionate about her work and cherished her position within the company until her maternity break necessitated a change. Naturally, Hafeez Contractor became her professional inspiration. She admired his open office policies and unwavering dedication to client satisfaction. However, with her own firm now established, she encounters the unavoidable task of following up with clients for payments—an aspect she dislikes but recognizes as a typical entrepreneurial challenge. While she has not encountered any non-payment issues thus far, it serves as one of the professional hurdles inherent to running a business. Nonetheless, Ridaa embarked on her entrepreneurial journey by taking on projects from friends and family members, quickly garnering positive word-of-mouth referrals. Today, she primarily operates in North India and envisions expanding her presence nationwide.
Ridaa’s easygoing and approachable demeanor fosters strong and friendly relationships with her clients. Work becomes a joyous experience, with meetings evolving into casual discussions over lunch. Even site meetings maintain a relaxed and amicable atmosphere. When asked about the essentials of starting her own venture, she fondly recalls her journey,
“A good office space is must, as it gives clients a positive impression. That was my first investment, followed by computers, furniture, soft goods and human resources in form of creating a team of experienced designers.”
