“India is a land of rich culture and craftsmanship,” says Mehwish. “When designing, I often draw from traditional elements—textures, patterns, materials—but I present them in a way that feels fresh and modern.” This philosophy is evident in one of the studio’s signature projects, a heritage-inspired residence in South Delhi. The home features intricately carved wooden panels and jali screens, juxtaposed with sleek, minimalistic furniture and contemporary lighting. The result is a space that feels rooted yet relevant.

This approach also resonates in her hospitality projects, particularly a Mughal-inspired restaurant in Delhi, where classic arches and motifs meet industrial finishes and open layouts. Educating clients about the value of timeless design can be difficult in an age of instant gratification. “Many people are tempted by what’s ‘in’ at the moment. My job is to show them how a thoughtful blend of tradition and modernity can stay beautiful for decades,” she explains.
