Episode Hotel: A Celebration of Local Culture and Warm Hospitality in Indonesia

Located in the bustling province of Banten, Indonesia, Episode Hotel stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region. Situated in the vibrant satellite city of Gading Serpong, near prominent landmarks such as the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Center, Scientia Park, IKEA, and renowned shopping malls, AEON and Summarecon Mal Serpong, this hotel offers a warm and welcoming ambiance to its guests. With a focus on the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, Episode Hotel features extensive meeting facilities, luxurious guest rooms, and a captivating design that draws inspiration from two distinct ethnic groups associated with the region.

Celebrating Local Culture:
The interior design of Episode Hotel was led by HBA, Indonesia, in close collaboration with Light Directions, an esteemed lighting design company. The hotel’s design concept pays homage to the local cultures of Tangerang, primarily influenced by the Baduy and Peranakan ethnic groups. The Baduy people, an indigenous Sundanese community residing in the southeastern part of Banten, have preserved their traditions and ancestral way of life throughout generations. Meanwhile, the Peranakan ethnic group comprises Chinese individuals with Indonesian heritage, resulting from centuries-old unions between Chinese immigrants and native-born Indonesians.

Design Elements:
Incorporating vibrant elements from both cultures, Episode Hotel blends modern elegance with traditional motifs. Chinese-style artworks, colorful tiles, rattan furnishings, and rugs adorned with Indonesian patterns create a captivating fusion of aesthetics. These carefully selected design elements infuse the hotel’s public spaces and guest rooms with a distinct charm that showcases the cultural diversity of the region.

Lighting Design:
To complement the hotel’s exquisite interiors and create a warm and inviting atmosphere, Episode Hotel employed a thoughtful lighting design strategy. Ceiling coves and concealed lighting integrated within furniture and other interior elements were utilized to highlight specific areas and add visual interest. Supplemental downlighting played a crucial role in accentuating artwork, tables, check-in desks, and food counters, enhancing the overall ambiance of the hotel.

The lighting scheme featured warm white, dimmable, 2700K LED fixtures, which not only provided an inviting glow but also contributed to energy efficiency and reduced maintenance costs. To maximize control and flexibility, Episode Hotel implemented a lighting control system equipped with an astronomical time clock. This automated system facilitated smooth transitions between different lighting scenes throughout the day, creating a dynamic environment that catered to the hotel’s various needs.

Enhancing the lighting experience, the design team selected the Jung A500 Aluminium light switches in Matt Graphite Black. These switches, with their sleek design and velvety finish, perfectly complemented the overall aesthetic of the hotel, adding a touch of sophistication to the electrical installation.

Conclusion:
Episode Hotel stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of modern luxury and cultural heritage. Inspired by the Baduy and Peranakan ethnic groups, the hotel’s design celebrates the unique traditions and artistry of the region. With its warm and welcoming ambience, Episode Hotel offers a memorable experience for guests, inviting them to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Indonesia while enjoying the comforts of contemporary hospitality.
