Barsha Mukherjee, a multi-talented woman entrepreneur, who is the owner of “BrishniJewellery”, a leading name in the Jewellery industry. A graduate in Fashion Designing from Oxford College of Science, wears many hats – she is a commendable entrepreneur, ‘a successful managing director and designer at BrishniJewellery’, and a brilliant mother. She used her impulses to move forward after quitting her job soon after the birth of her son-Brishni in 2013. With 6 years of wholesome experience in the Fashion industry, she commenced her own business in 2016. 

Barsha, who is a fashion designer and her husband- Sunetra, a Mechanical Engineer, hail from a small town, Midnapore, located in West Bengal. They had been doing great in their decent jobs but dragging themselves to their respective offices every morning was quite an arduous task. They used to dream big and were constantly in search of an alternate source of income, when their interest drew towards commencing their own business; and soon they ventured into the Jewellery industry with “BrishniJewellery”.

“The impulse to explore the terrains of fashion had already been residing within me for quite some time but the idea of venturing into it, kicked off in 2016”, she recalls. Managing work and her child simultaneously was a challenge for her. Her business was flourishing and she needed support to keep it growing. This was when her husband came to support her in business, by leaving his job, and then everything fit well into the picture.

Coming from a middle class family, leaving behind a well settled job to initiate a business, which was an unfamiliar terrain for both; has been the biggest risk in her life. The woman entrepreneur refers gold jewellery as a prominent fashion accessory in India but the trouble lies in affording this highly expensive entity and while searching for the alternatives, none stands up to the supreme quality of gold. After a thorough research, the thought of creating fashion accessories resembling gold but costing only a fraction of it, instigated her to look out for gold plated copper Jewellery, which did wonders in the market since the inception of their venture.

The Designer of her own destiny, Barsha Mukherjee, shares another interesting side of her as she expresses her love for cooking, which is her favorite pastime. She is an extensively humble and easily approachable person, who made it big in a short span of time. With only 3 years into this business, her jewellery venture has become a renowned name and has been growing at a faster pace now. Her dream, desire and passion- “BrishniJewellery” has been rewarded as the Best Contemporary Jewelry Brand, India Business Award 2019 for its outstanding designs and customers’ overwhelming response.
