Mirza Rizwan Baig, one of the founders of Design Grid Studio, embarked on his journey with a deep passion for architecture and design. It all began during his time as a student at Chirec Public School, where he keenly observed the buildings, their planning, and facade designs, particularly within his own school, which was renowned for its excellence.
Baig’s curiosity led him to analyze every space within the school, pondering why it was planned in a certain way. He also examined building elevations and facade treatments, contemplating if they could have been improved. Over time, his interest in architecture grew, and he pursued his studies in the field, gaining valuable insights and knowledge.
After completing his graduation, Baig embarked on a professional journey, working for a company that exposed him to diverse projects, ranging from residential and commercial to institutional. His involvement encompassed both the planning stages and interior design. Baig’s dream, which originated during his school days, was to establish a firm that would work on various types of projects, and today, that dream has become a reality with the founding of Design Grid Studio alongside co-founder Paras Bharti in 2019.
With more than two dozen projects under their belt, including villas, gated communities, apartments, and commercial spaces, Baig sees this as just the beginning of a journey filled with further exploration, learning, and growth. Design Grid Studio’s unique selling proposition lies in its ability to precisely replicate the finalized concepts, providing the right designs and comprehensive support throughout each project.
Baig credits Ar. Anwar Aziz, with whom he interned, as his inspiration and mentor. From him, Baig learned the true meaning of passion and the significance of attention to detail. He absorbed the notion that no task is too small or too big, emphasizing that work should be approached with equal energy and dedication.
Baig acknowledges that an entrepreneur’s journey is rife with obstacles and challenges, which are integral to personal and professional growth. He believes that these hurdles ultimately make individuals better professionals and continually raise the bar. Baig emphasizes the importance of pushing oneself beyond the comfort zone, as growth is unlikely to occur within its confines. Baig also recognizes the vital role that family plays in an entrepreneurial journey. With his wife, also an architect, understanding the challenges from the beginning, Baig received unwavering support that positively impacted his work and mental well-being.

While it can be challenging to maintain client satisfaction in the service industry, Design Grid Studio boasts a roster of repeat clients, a testament to their success. Among the projects close to Baig’s heart is the renovation of the Lasa Lamsa tea store.
